Lest We Forget

I received this SMS from a brother who has served in the Australian Defence Force.

Think of all the Aussie soldiers stories of how courageous, bold, sacrifical, willing to fight to death, such intimate close unity with each other, take orders without analysing their commander, but just listening properly and doing what they said no matter what the cost. Well how much "MORE" so can we be for God in courage, boldness, unity, sacrificial, obedient, all through what He did on the cross, and He has given us His Spirit to live in us forever to help us in everyway, all for Gods glory, to bring glory to the mighty name of Jesus!

Was thinking what Jesus would do on a day like today. He'd prob say something like- "soldiers on earth deserve honor for fighting for their country, but how much more so for the soldier's of Christ who follows Him through all trials and temptations- honor that will last for eternity, because they are in Christ, covered with the blood of Jesus".

"Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs—he wants to please his commanding officer." 2 Timothy 2:3-4

Amen! And I love the title, which comes from a hymn, "Be with us yet, lest we forget." I canNOT remember the hymn, though.

In any event, there are so many parallels between the Christian life and soldiering: we are IN a war. We ignore that to our peril and continued decline.

How different the body would be if we truly, collectively, believed that! We are at war whether we like it or not! It doesn't matter the side: one is either a friend of the world and at war with God, or a friend of God and at war with the world! There is no middle ground! Unfortunately, many professing believers seem to think a foot in both camps is ok. Reminds me of that story of a soldier from the Civil War who wore a grey shirt and blue pants - who got shot by both sides!

"You take your stand beside Jesus Christ and His cause, and you watch the devil come after you, buffeting you from the outside and from the inside day and night, but that's what war is about"~Paul Washer.
